DECEMBER CONCERT INFO!!!
We have had some changes to our original schedule, so please update your calendars with this information. If you have a conflict, please see your conductor immediately!

December 7, 2008 � Holiday Concert for YO and CS
Loch Raven High School, 1212 Cowpens Ave., Baltimore, MD 21286

December 14, 2008 � Holiday Concert for Bridges, Sinfonietta, Sinfonia, and CS
� Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by YO students

**The specific concert start time is not set yet, but will be mid-afternoon.

No groups are performing on December 13. The YO Outreach concert fell through, so the YO will not play a second concert. We will need several YO members to help students �try out� various instruments as part of the Instrument Petting Zoo. Instruments will be provided for you.

CONCERTO COMPETITION FORMS
Since Dec 7 is a concert and there is no rehearsal on Nov 30, we'd like to ask anyone who is planning to participate in the Concerto Competition to turn in a form by Nov 23 (or earlier) to be sure your selection is appropriate for the competition. If you have any questions, please speak with Jason and check the information in the handbook.

POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER
Students will receive information about our annual Poinsettia Sale at today�s rehearsal. Poinsettias will be delivered to Loch Raven High School and used to decorate the stage during our December 7 performance. Plants can be picked up following the concert.

HOLIDAY CONCERT POSTERS
Holiday Concert Posters can be picked up at the table in the lobby at rehearsal today. We have Baltimore County Schools distribution covered; however, if you can distribute posters in other schools, libraries, community centers, and businesses, you are welcome to pick up a few posters. Thank you!

YO REHEARSAL TIME TODAY
The YO rehearsal will last almost the entire time, 4:00-6:45, on 11/9. We'll run through the music for the 11/13 Loyola concert during the last half-hour.

YO members have a repeat performance of last week�s concert at Loyola�s main campus on November 13. Times and directions are below.

YO Call time: 7:00 p.m/Concert begins at 8:00 p.m.

When using I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway), take Exit 25 (Charles Street). Proceed south on Charles Street, just north of the Cold Spring Lane intersection.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Congratulations on a successful performance last week! Everything went very smoothly, and both groups sounded fantastic.
Also, a huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who stepped in to make everything happen!

Season Subscriptions & Tickets
If you haven't yet ordered your Season Subscription tickets, you can place your order and pick up your tickets today at Kraushaar Auditorium prior to the concert.

If you have already ordered your Season Subscriptions, you can pick up your tickets (and Season CD voucher if purchased) at Kraushaar Auditorium prior to the concert.

Professional photos will be taken during the on-stage rehearsal before the concert. Students MUST wear concert dress for the rehearsal! Please consult your Member Handbook if you have questions about the appropriate clothing.

Season Subscriptions
Season Subscriptions will be available for sale today in the lobby, along with individual tickets to the October 26 concert.
**A big thank you to all our families for participating since this is such a key to having an audience to hear the students' awesome work!
We will need some volunteers today between 4:15-5:00 to package season tickets in envelopes. Stop by the snack area if you can help!

Fall Bulb Fundraiser
Bulbs will be ready for pick-up in the lobby today!

YO Rehearsal today will go the entire time until 7:00.

� Volunteers needed to support our fundraising efforts by selling GBYO merchandise (sweatshirts, CD's, etc.) at a table during the 10/26 concert! Please contact Beagerry@cs.com.

Chamber Concert
For students participating in the chamber program, we've lined up a concert at Loyola's main campus Weds, April 29. It will probably start at 7:30, or maybe 8:00. The last two we played there were to a filled room! Please mark this addition to your calendar if you'll be doing chamber music (or would just like to attend!) and please let Jason or Mary know if you might have a conflict that day. (The next day is possible but slightly trickier.)

Fall Bulb Fundraiser
The deadline for the bulb orders has been extended to today. If you are interested in placing an order, please drop off your form in the lobby today. Bulbs will be delivered next week, October 19.

Season Subscriptions
Season Subscription brochures will be distributed today at rehearsal, and will also be mailed out tomorrow. If you have time after 3:00 today to stick mailing labels on brochures, please stop by Room 5.

We are asking each YO & CS family to sell 5 Season Subscriptions, and each Sinfonia & Sinfonietta family to sell 2 Season Subscriptions. Order forms with check payments can be turned in next Sunday, October 19; or on Sunday, October 26, the day of our first concert at Kraushaar Auditorium, Goucher College. Master Class & Recital
German cellist Alexander H�lshof presents a masterclass with Towson University cellists performing (Sat, Oct 25, 10am-noon, Towson Univ Center for the Arts, Rm 3071, free). H�lshof performs a recital featuring Schubert and Shostakovich sonatas plus works by Schumann, Popper, and Servais (Sun, Oct 26, 7:30pm, Towson Univ Center for the Arts Recital Hall, $15 adult / $8 student).

Season Subscriptions

As we did last year, the GBYO is selling Season Subscriptions to this year�s concerts. And following up on last year�s very successful Season Subscription sales, we are again asking you to help us reach our goal of 600 Season Subscriptions.

With over 160 student musicians in the Youth Orchestra, Concert Strings, and the Sinfonia and Sinfonietta, each acting as an ambassador for the GBYO and the promise of wonderful concert experiences throughout the year, we should again be able to reach our goal.

What does that mean for each family?

We are asking each YO & CS family to sell at least 5 Season Subscriptions, and each Sinfonia & Sinfonietta family to sell at least 2 Season Subscriptions.

This season we are offering five paid admission concerts, including the special National Endowment for the Arts �Arts in the Community� concert on April 18. Season Subscription prices are $50 per Adult or Senior, and $25 per Student.

We will distribute Season Subscription brochures next Sunday, October 12, to all students � for you and for your friends and relatives. Also, if you can spare some time during next Sunday�s rehearsal, you can help us stick address labels on the brochures for our mailing going out the following day.

Season Subscription ticket order forms (the order form is a tear-off panel from the brochure) can be turned in at rehearsal on October 12 and October 19, or at our first concert on October 26 at Kraushaar Auditorium at Goucher College. Season Subscription tickets will be distributed via Will Call Pick-up on October 26 at Kraushaar Auditorium.

Thank you again for your ambassadorship and support for the GBYO in promoting Season Subscriptions. We look forward to packed houses for all of our concerts this year!
